Are Acai Berries Really Beneficial?

The Acai Berries are becoming more and more popular with the outburst of the various benefits it holds for the human anatomy.

Well, the acai palm tree is said to popularly grow in parts of Brazil, Colombia and Peru, and the residents over there have used the tree's fruit and palms to support their health. The trees also grow on river edges and around flood plains and are said to have the capability to reach up to 25 metres in height. Let me tell you, the fruit itself comes in the form of deep purple berries, which are somewhat similar to red grapes, but are kinda slightly smaller and with a tougher, oilier skin.

The acai berry benefits of the fruit have been known for several years now and residents across the Amazon have utilized it to their well-being , the fruit being extremely perishable it is kind of difficult to export them, so it took ages to reach the mass on other parts of the globe. With the availability of flash freezing technology, it is far easier to harvest and export the fruit while its nutritional qualities are kept intact.

As a matter of fact, there are various ranges of nutrients within the fruit. The benefits are as follows, Antioxidants, and fatty acids such as Omega-3, largely contribute in keeping the human body healthy when included as part of our diet, and according to the Health Sciences Institute (HIS); the acai berry is rich in both antioxidants and Omega-3. One should note that 90 per cent of the berry consists of its large seed, but nevertheless it is the remaining 10 percent of the fleshy pulp and skin where the nutrients are densely packed. The South Americans prefer to take the later part in their diet after processing and purifying the same, to get the actual beneficial materials out of it. It is often taken as juice.

According to the British Heart Foundation,

Moderate drinking between one or two units a day has a protective' effect in preventing heart attacks.

Now, looking at the present proceeding of the events, a good example of these fatty acids and their benefits happens to be in the use of olive oil. Let me brief you here, the Mediterranean diet that uses large amounts of olive oil, often instead of butter, has been considered as a healthy basis for a person's diet. But then there is the French paradox', which gives the perception that a single ingredient is highlighted as a contributing factor in a healthy diet. It is difficult for a single elment to govern the anatomy but it sure can play an important role.

There is more to the story as Antioxidants and fatty acids aren'y the only names in the list of nutrients found in acai. According to an U.K. generated health-report, acai berries also contain B vitamins and are high in fibre, protein and potassium.

Well, Acai has already bagged the prestigious title of 'super-fruit' and there is more to come as research is going on to further understand the true potential of acai.
